Kathryne Wright created the Hammered Edge Studio & Gallery in Chester in 1995 with the loving and enthusiastic support of her artist mother Joyce Wright. The name of the gallery came about one evening when the two were brain-storming over some very nice merlot. A fascination of Kathryne's is the beautiful effect of hammering the edge of metal with the chisel end of a hammer to disrupt the surface and cause it to "bloom" like a soft ruffle. Voila!
This was my mother Joyce B Wright as I remember her best. Loving, wildly creative, playful, and to her credit, sometimes just a bit mischievous! She was and is to this day, one of my dearest friends and cohorts! She is "saving me a seat on the bus"!
